BREAKING NEWS: This ancient goblin just got his first "gig" in Portugal! 🧌💼

I'm now officially a FREELANCER working with @comovept and @fabulae.stories at Festival Novas Invasões as a DM (Dungeon Master) running RPG adventures in... wait for it... ERADIIR!

Finally, someone who appreciates my 300+ years of ACTUAL field experience! ⚔️

PORTUGAL'S FREELANCER LIFE - A GOBLIN'S PERSPECTIVE:

✅ The Good Stuff:


They call you "profissional independente" (sounds fancy!)

Work from anywhere (even goblin caves with Wi-Fi)

Choose your projects (goodbye, unwanted quests!)

Portuguese clients actually PAY on time (revolutionary concept!)

Coffee culture = perfect for grumpy morning goblins ☕


The "Interesting" Parts:

📋 Bureaucracy Level: MAXIMUM

Apparently I need to be "registered" and have a "NIF" and submit "quarterly declarations." In my day, being self-employed meant "I work for myself, leave me alone." Now it means "I work for myself BUT ALSO for the tax office, social security, and seventeen different government departments."

💰 The Invoice Dance:

"Please send invoice with all legal requirements."

Googles "legal requirements"

Finds 47-page PDF

Contemplates returning to dragon slaying

But seriously, Portuguese bureaucracy makes German efficiency look chaotic! 📄

🎭 THE IRONY:

I'm getting PAID to tell stories about the world I actually LIVED IN! It's like hiring a fish to explain water, except the fish has anger management issues and strong opinions about tax policies.

FESTIVAL NOVAS INVASÕES - THE PERFECT FIT:

These humans want authentic Eradiir adventures? I've got 347 years of material!

"Okay players, you enter the Tavern of Questionable Hygiene..."

"How questionable?"

"Well, I once saw a troll refuse service there."

PORTUGUESE WORK CULTURE OBSERVATIONS:

😊 People actually take lunch breaks (civilized!)

🤝 Handshake deals still matter (unless they are dancing Trolls

⏰ "Maybe tomorrow" is a valid timeline (finally!)

🍷 Business meetings can involve wine (GENIUS)

💬 They'll spend 20 minutes asking about your family before discussing work (wholesome chaos)


THE FREELANCER PARADOX:


You're "independent" but need government permission to be independent

You're "free" but have more paperwork than employed people

You're your own boss but also your own accountant, marketer, and IT support

Freedom costs €200/month in accountant fees


But honestly? Getting paid to share stories from my homeland while working with passionate people who actually GET storytelling? Worth every bureaucratic headache! 🎲

Plus, @comovept and @fabulaept are doing incredible work bringing people together through games and stories. Finally found my tribe of creative chaos-makers! 🎭
